Giveaway and Teaser of For Queen and Country

Good Morning my avid readers!  Today I am pleased to bring you not only a sneak peek inside this yummy tidbit, but also a chance to win your own copy!!  Lets take a look at the details!!!

BLURB:
Sparks of lust fly between the queen’s military advisor Lord Colin Mandrake, and her chief spy aboard The Gypsy, Lady Constance of Berkshire. However, no matter how good the sex is between them, Constance and Colin butt heads over who is in charge of the mission to capture the sultan Khalid Bin Bargash. Can Colin win over her heart, and can Constance teach Colin who is boss?

EXCERPT:
“Shush!” Constance leaned closer to the speakers. Petyr’s voice disrupted by static as the wind once more it broke into the tent. “The captain couldn’t land The Gypsy in this wind, and we need to be on the ground to get decent reception.”
“Argh. Get on with it, Petyr.” Lilly shivered again as she watched him on the sepia-colored screen.
Standing in the corner of the hall, the raised platform made him appear taller. His hair was slicked back, and mustache twirled upwards. His black eyes scanned the crowd in the imperial winter palace and held his arms up dramatically.
“Hush.” Constance tried to appear calm. “This is his first time out. He’s doing just fine.”
“His imperial majesty the Tsar Alexander, I give you the mysterious, the enchanting – La Seraphine!”
Constance took a drag of her honey-flavored cigarillo. On the screen, the center of the hall lit up, illuminating a small elegantly decorated tent. Gold coins shimmered along the edges, pulsing to the beat of the drums. The music rose in tempo and drapes slowly opened. From within, long bare legs appeared in a suggestive pose.
Constance took another nervous drag. A collective gasp rippled through the court. A shapely leg curled around the drape. The music paused. When it began again, the seductive sounds of the oboe joined in. The beat slowed down, the dancer twisted her legs to the music. Twirling hips, rolling curves, and Constance nodded with relief as the Tsar leaned forward.
“She’s got his attention.”
The Tsar lifted a monocle. Even on the sepia screen, the shell around the lens glowed with an unusual green light.
“Is that what we’re after?” Lilly adjusted brass knobs on the panel to get a clearer picture.
“No, the boss lady wanted Sera to place a listening device.”
The music built to its peak, pausing as the court held their breaths. With a crash of the drums, the fabric of the tent billowed to the ground like wings of a butterfly. The lovely Seraphine exposed.
Silence filled the hall as courtiers took in the sight. A headdress of coins shimmered over her honey locks. She stood in a pose, one arm over her head, and the other resting at her knee. With a flick of her wrist, gold coins jingled on her head and chest as the music began again. The beat quickened to match the speed of her shimmying hips.
The crowd remained breathless as she twirled. Hair and sheer fabric spun around her. Long legs descended off the platform taking steps as her hips curved forward. She reached the seated group, a veil, matching the fabric of her skirt appeared in her hands. Swaying to the music, she lifted the veil over her head and rolled her hips side to side until she inched closer towards the Tsar with a seductive smile.
More than one guard stepped forward, weapon at the ready to stop the dancer. However, the Tsar with a sheen of lust on his face waved them away. Seraphine danced, letting the fabric of her skirt sway against his legs.
Neither the Tsar nor his guards heard the frantic voice piped through a jeweled bit of earring.
“Abort!” Constance shouted, cigarillo lying forgotten on the ground. “I repeat, abort. The boss lady has called off the mission and is summoning us home. Return to camp immediately.”
Constance saw bewilderment on Petyr’s face, but couldn’t give her operatives any more information over the earpiece. Behind her, a flurry of activity kicked up when the ticker tape came through the makeshift console.
Petyr slid out of view of the console. However, Sera continued to dance for the Tsar.
“Dammit girl, get out of there,” Constance muttered.
But Sera did not leave. Instead, her veil spun again, making it flutter around her. As she spun in front of the hidden camera, she waved the hand signal for–Plan B.

Excerpt and Interview with Aubrie Dionne, from Paradise 21

Hello my naughty little readers!!  Today I have a special sneak peek inside Aubrie's new novel Paradise 21.  I love the cover :), but as you know I'm big into sexy covers and that hot guy's mouth is just about at the right spot...LOL!! Lets take a little looksie inside....
Excerpt:
“Might as well stay here and make camp for the night.”

His casual tone stung her composure. How could he talk of such mundane things when they’d almost been captured, when she’d touched him so tenderly?

“We’ll let them get farther away,” Striker explained, reasonable as always. “We’re going in their direction tomorrow.”

The sting of rejection grew, burning a hole in her heart. “Why?”

“Why what?”

Her lips trembled. “Why not kiss me like you did before?”

“I can’t.” He shook his head, and the air cooled between them; so much so, Aries wondered if the desert had turned into deep space.

He’d teased her with such affection before, it was cruel to take it away. “I don’t understand,” she said, wishing she didn’t care, wishing she could stop all the emotions he’d started in her heart.

Aries caught a glimpse of pain etched in the wrinkles around his eyes. Striker turned away and started pulling supplies out of his backpack. “I can’t do this.”

“Do what?”

Striker shook his head and Aries prompted, “Can’t kiss me, can’t trust me? What?”

“I can’t allow myself to get tangled up with someone. Not again.”

The thoughts of Striker with another woman confused her. On the New Dawn, everyone had one lifemate and that was it. “You mean you loved someone before?”

Striker’s hand tightened on the backpack. “I trusted someone a long time ago, allowed myself to love, if you will. She hurt me so much I lost my entire life and ended up here. I can’t experience that kind of pain again.”

Aries clasped her hand over her heart. “I’m so sorry.”

He waved her apology off as if it meant nothing. “It’s a tough world, Aries. And it’s dangerous to love. If I were you, I’d keep my heart well-guarded, because you never know when it will affect your decisions, when it will make you weak.”

Aries couldn’t take his advice. Watching him talk about his past made her realize she’d already given up her heart.

He had it.

How old were you when you first realized you wanted to write?

I’ve been writing my whole life. My first poem (maybe about 4th grade) was about how I wanted to see a unicorn but since they weren’t real I would never get my wish. (Really, I was a happy child, though.)

I began writing seriously about six years ago when I couldn’t find books with the right balance of fantasy, science fiction, romance, and action for my tastes. Then, I realized just how hard it is to write!

LOL...I'm quite sure it is hard! Most authors have an unusual story or way that they come up with their ideas for books…Do you have one?

I used to come up with all sorts of ideas while sitting in orchestra. (I’m a professional flutist). Flute players have to rest a lot (sometimes 60 measures at a time), so I’d make up stories to go along with the music.

Now, I get a lot of ideas while commuting to work. One of my jobs is an hour and ten minutes away, so I have a lot of time to think!

Wow...That is a big commute! What was your biggest influence that steered you towards writing?

The Star Wars movies. They sparked my imagination throughout my childhood. I used to act each scene out with my sister. Our swing set was a spaceship, and we’d swing to power it. We used to fight over who got to be princess Leia!

I have to ask, what are the hardest scenes  for you to write?

The male point of view scenes are hard for me, because I’m such a pink, frilly, girly girl. It took me a long time to figure out how to talk and act like a male romance hero should. They don’t talk as much, and they don’t notice the same things women do.

That's actually a new answer, most writers say sex scenes. Do you see yourself writing in another genre?

I love science fiction and fantasy. I also tried horror, but my stories weren’t very scary. I’m not sure why. I love horror movies.

Has your family been supportive?

Yes, they all came to my recent book signing at Barnes and Noble!

That's awesome :) Are any of your characters reflective of you?

They all have a piece of me in them, even the bad guys. It’s really scary to recognize that, but I’m coming to terms with it.

Hey..bad guys can be cool too..lol! What do you like to do when you're not writing?

I play flute at people’s weddings and other special events, and I’m on the sub list for a number of orchestras. My next concert is very special to me because I’m playing flute with my old teacher, someone very dear to my heart.

Who is your favorite book heroine?

I love Jane Eyre. She’s so strong despite her circumstances, and she sticks to her ideals. She didn’t become Rochester’s mistress as much as she loved him.

What is your favorite mystical creature?

I love unicorns. So. Much. My favorite books growing up were the Secret of the Unicorn Series. I’d love to write about unicorns, but I’m not sure that’s what people like to read about nowadays.

OHH!!  One of my favorite movies was The Last Unicorn! Where are your books available?

On Amazon:

On Barnes and Noble:

What can we expect from you in the future?

Tundra 37, the sequel to the New Dawn series comes out in January. I’m so excited about it. I think I love it even more than Paradise 21. It has alien mammoths, cyber women, tragic love, sweet romance, and lots of laser fights.

Where can we reach you and become informed of updates?

The Twelfth Paladin By: Nora Weston

Scarred with angelfire by a rebellious angel named Micah, Jake Cottrell is sanctioned to become the twelfth paladin in Micah's supernatural unit of slayers. However, regret abounds as Micah is banished from his command and ordered to protect what he now despises…a human he believes is unworthy of such an honor.

Jake slips far away from righteousness, outwardly proving Micah's judgment, by replying to a wicked email from next@hell.net. Forever a seeker of mischief, Jake dares Hell to burn him. Hell agrees. Davis Travers thickens the plot by introducing Jake to Rachel Darnell. A temptress extraordinaire, she erupts from the fiery pits to steal Jake's soul. After a steamy seduction from the dark side, Jake is left spellbound.

With his soul dangling between Heaven and Hell, Jake soars on a blistering blacktop to escape the wrath of Hell as he fights for redemption while transforming into the twelfth paladin. Feel the heat as you grab your precious soul and go for a virtual roller coaster ride into Hell and back.
My Review

Jake Cottrell seems to have a death wish.  His knack for getting into mischief seems to follow him everywhere he goes.  So it comes as no surprise when he finds himself in the company of demons, literally.  Even though Jake has a bad boy reputation and excels in trouble, he is not cruel, nor is he mean.  Maybe a lot self-centered, but a definite diamond with some jagged edges.  Can he change enough to convince Micah that he really is worthy of the honor?  Micah does not believe in this rebellious human and doubts his creators plan.  This world-weary warrior angel and our human bad-boy have a few lessons in stall for them!

For starters, this is my first experience reading a book from a young man's point of view and it was quite interesting.  I wanted to smack Jake upside the head several times during the first few chapters for a variety of reasons.  But Jake grows on you as the story progresses, and ends up burrowing under your skin.  He was my favorite character!  He definitely didn't start out the way.  I loved the way the author used our technology against us.  It was an intriguing concept of hell having its own website.  LOL!  It also made complete sense.  The web, while linking us together around the world for good, also has plenty of other temptations littering the cyberspace.  So why wouldn't the devil capitalize on such an open market?

Micah is our doubtful heavenly guardian.  It seems he was blinded by his own judgement and unwilling to see the big picture.  Well God did what all parents do their rebellious teenagers, he punished him.  It was more like a much needed wake up call.   Micah had a lot of growing to do in this story.  You really see a transformation not only of Jake, but Micah as well.  His faith is fully restored by the end of the book and he leads a much happier existence.

So Micah and Jake are our fighters in a war being waged between heaven and hell.  Throw in the beautiful virtuous Angie, who is being held against her will by a demon, and a succubus straight out of every man's fantasy and the battle begins.  I love good versus evil books!  This book was a real page turner, especially if you like a little religion thrown into your paranormal. I enjoyed getting to know Jake and Micah and couldn't help but hope that the author dips back into this realm sometime in the future!  After all Jake is the twelfth paladin.  There are eleven more stories out there!!
