Review: Damon (The Protectors) Book 1: By Teresa Gabelman
Damon DeMasters is a vampire warrior who
has taken an oath to protect his own kind as well as humans. As a social worker,
Nicole Callahan fights for the right of every child placed in her care. Damon
has been ordered to train Nicole and her colleagues against the dangers they now
face. Even as sparks fly, Nicole and Damon depend on each other to protect the
children of both races.
My Review:
The story-line behind the premise of this book was heart-wrenching. I have a weakness for children, not matter what species and this book does at times address issues that are in fact going on today. No matter that vampires don't exist, children are still being exploited and misused for various reasons. It breaks my heart to see a child suffer. Even though Nicole had a less than ideal childhood, it made her into an amazing lead character. I enjoyed all aspects of her personality, and she truly is someone that is relateable, formidable, and lovable. Even though this book is filled with smoking hot vampire yummies, Nicole was still my favorite character. She was one that took what happened to her and instead of repeating it in another generation, she was determined not to allow it to happen to anyone under her care. She was someone that we need in real life in her particular field.
And for our hot alpha heroes fans? This book has a bunch of potential ones, considering Damon has an extensive team. He was the perfect leader and I could imagine no better pairing then one that shares his ideals, courage, and heart. This was an exceptional introduction into the series and I can't wait until Jared's book!! He was the sweet, funny, ladies man in the set and I can't wait to see who he falls for!! Exceptional Read!!!
