Good Morning and Welcome to this stop on J.D. Tyler's tour of Black Moon!! I was lucky enough to get an interview with her!! This what she had to say:
Hello
and Welcome to The Dungeon! I’m so happy
to have you here visiting and sharing your newest work. Don’t mind the noise from the prison… err
guests, they get noisy during their…treatments..lol. Let me clear a spot so you
can have a seat. Would you like some
refreshments before you get started?
Thank you, it’s great to be
here! Ooh, yes, a great big margarita on the rocks would be lovely, thank you!
Tell
us a little bit about your book.
I’ll
share the blurb with you:
A group
of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top-secret team of wolf shifters with
Psy powers combating the greatest dangers in the world. But sometime those
dangers are more intimate than they bargained for…
Ever
since he saved Dr. Mackenzie Grant’s life, panther shifter and sorcerer Kalen
Black has had trouble keeping the beautiful doctor out of his thoughts, and his
heart. The brush with death awakened an intense passion between them—one that
for the first time had the notorious loner letting down his guard.
With the
Alpha Pack battling an evil Fae who is slowly gaining control over Kalen’s
mind, Kalen can no longer trust his own actions, and he breaks off his affair
with Mackenzie in order to keep her safe. But when Mackenzie learns that she is
carrying Kalen’s child, no amount of danger will keep her away from the man she
loves. To be with his mate and unborn child, Kalen will have to unleash the
full fury of his power, and risk destroying them all…
Readers are sometimes surprised to learn that I never imagined I
would get the opportunity to write paranormal romance. I was busy writing
romantic suspense as my alter-ego, Jo Davis, and enjoying that very much. My
publisher actually came to me in 2010 and said they didn’t have an author writing
shifters for them, and would I be interested in proposing a series? Would I
ever!!
Extremely excited, I went to work on a series outline, and I
knew I wanted my wolves to have a military background. What on earth is sexier
than Navy SEALs? I also wanted them to have some other abilities, so I gave
each Pack member a special Psy gift, such as the ability to start fires, move
objects with his mind, see the future or the past, speak in others’ minds, etc.
Combined with the shifting and military background, my men are sexy and heroic.
The Alpha Pack was born, a black ops team that protects the world from all
sorts of lethal human and non-human predators. I’m also working other types of
shifters into their world, and I’m absolutely loving my work writing this
series!
Who
is the character that in your opinion everyone is going to fall in love with?
In future books, I think
that’s going to be Micah Chase, Rowan’s brother who was rescued in SAVAGE
AWAKENING. He’s been tortured, held captive for months, and is going down a
path to destruction. He’s a vulnerable hero you just want to squeeze.
I
have to ask, what are the hardest scenes for you to write?
In BLACK MOON, that’s a hard one to answer without giving away
the big secrets! I guess in general, I can say that the scenes where Kalen is
mentally struggling against being seduced to the side of evil by the Unseelie
King Malik were among the hardest I’ve ever written. Writing a good man losing
his mind, a man who’s never had love and wants it so desperately, and fighting
against accepting a twisted form of love from a force who’s sweet-talking him,
saying all the right things, was a great challenge. I think I pulled it off,
but I’ll let the readers decide!
One of my favorite scenes in the book is the final battle, when
Kalen unleashes the full power of his sorcery and commander Nick Westfall’s
terrible vision comes to pass… How’s that for a tease?
How
would you rate the sex scenes throughout the series?
Sex scenes in the series are
very hot but not erotic. No multiple partners.
Are
there any of these in your books? (Hands
one of the toy boxes on the right which is filled with sex toys, whips, body
creams, lotions, lubes…and whatever else you can imagine J)
LOL. In the Alpha Pack
series, there are none of those… at least so far!
Do
you see yourself writing anymore stories in this series or a spin-off?
I have plans for the series
to go on indefinitely. As long as readers want the books and the stories are
still interesting to me, I’ll write them.
Are
any of your characters reflective of you?
In this series, I don’t think
so. Sometimes I think they’re more of a reflection of who I wish I could be
instead of how I am. I’d love to be as tough and beautiful as Rowan Chase!
Tell
us about some up and coming books.
Next up in the series is HUNTER’S HEART, the 4th
installment in the Alpha Pack series. (Due to be released in late summer/fall
2013) This is Ryon Hunter’s story, and while I don’t have back cover copy yet
to share, I can tell readers that 1) A big secret will be revealed involving
the Alpha Pack, regarding a question posed back in PRIMAL LAW and 2) this is a
“predator” story. It explores the question—what if one of Malik’s and Dr. Gene
Bowman’s test subjects, an innocent human man, was an experiment gone wrong and
accidentally got unleashed on the world when the labs were destroyed? Can Ryon,
Ryon’s mate Daria, and the Pack save this man inside the creature? They’d
better hope so. Because the most dangerous predator is the one you can’t see
coming…
In spring of 2013, my Sugarland Blue series that centers on the
Sugarland, Tennessee Police Department (written as Jo Davis) launches with the
novella ARMED AND DANGEROUS in April. The next month, in May 2013 is the first
book, SWORN TO PROTECT. Both the novella and full-length book feature the
popular Detective Shane Ford, who first appeared in my Firefighters of Station
Five series!
After that, I have two more books under contract—the 5th
Alpha Pack book, character and story to be announced, and the 2nd
Sugarland Blue book, tentative title HOT PURSUIT (could change). HOT PURSUIT is
slated to be Detective Taylor Kayne’s story. Taylor is Shane’s partner in
Homicide.

J.D. Tyler is an award-winning, multi-published author who
writes for New American Library under three pseudonyms. Whether this is due to
an overdose of ambition or a multiple personality affliction, she’ll never
tell.
J.D. writes dark, sexy paranormal romance and has a huge
thing for shifters, vampires, the Fae, and just about everything else that goes
bump and grind in the night. She can’t get enough of those dangerous
supernatural heroes, and the fun of creating her own was just too much
temptation to resist… so she didn’t. J.D. doesn’t do self-denial.
When she isn’t writing, J.D.’s idea of a good time
certainly isn’t cleaning house (sniff), bungee jumping (not in this lifetime,
or the next), or camping (her idea of “roughing it” is a slow bellboy). She
enjoys reading, being pampered like the diva she is, and spending time with her
awesome family. She lives in Texas with her two teenagers.

in the world. But the gift of their abilities comes at a price…
After
a massacre decimates half his team and leaves him crippled, Jaxon Law must
relearn how to fight—and battle the anger and guilt threatening to overwhelm
him. But when he rescues a beautiful woman who reawakens his primal instincts,
Jax is unprepared for the dangers that lie ahead.
On the
run from her employer, brilliant lab assistant Kira Locke has evidence that
leads the Alpha Pack on a hunt for someone targeting human civilians with Psy
abilities. And as Jax and Kira circle both the killer and each other, Jax will
have to decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth breaking the
ultimate shifter rule—because bonding with Kira means putting his abilities at
risk, and they might be the only tools he has to keep his mate alive…
An
original Alpha Pack novella featuring the sexy sorcerer and panther shifter
Kalen Black…
Recruited by the Alpha Pack, Kalen Black is still very much a lone wolf. But when a paranormal creature threatens the life of Dr. Mackenzie Grant, Kalen must use all of his abilities to rescue her. This brush with death excites a passion between them, and after a night of intense pleasure, Kalen leaves Mac with a mysterious gift that just might save her life again.…

After a mission goes wrong, Aric Savage is taken prisoner. Half-dead and despairing, he makes a stunning discovery: his Pack mate Micah Chase, who was reported dead, is a fellow captive. LAPD officer and Psy Dreamwalker Rowan Chase has one priority: her brother Micah's recovery. Still, she can't help but be drawn to Aric, the ruggedly handsome wolf shifter who pleasures her as no man ever has--however fleeting their affair is destined to be. But when Aric's life is endangered, Rowan must ask herself what she's willing to sacrifice in the name of love, for the man fated to be her Bondmate.

thank you a lot for this new opportunity to win and for the interview ( i always love learning more about author)
I love Zsadist!! Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series is one of my favorite tortured heroes.
Thanks for the interview with J.D.! I learned some new things I never knew before! Leather straps? Hehe :)
Zarek (Sherrilyn Kenyon) - it was rather difficult to read his backstory, of all the crap he was dealt from birth to death and beyond. My heart just clenched.
Miki,
I loved Zhadist's story!! One of my fave paranormal heroes ever. :)
Thanks for coming by!
Elizabeth, I loved Acheron!
Ooh, yes, leather!! Of course, I love it on a hot man, not myself! :D
Thanks for coming by!
Raonaid, Zarek is my favorite Sherrilyn Kenyon hero EVER!!! And I his book, DANCE WITH THE DEVIL, remains one of my fave paranormal romances of all time. :)
Thanks for coming by!
Archeron from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunters (close second Zarek from the same series).
I haven't read any of this series yet, but the blurb and the cover art caught my eye. I'd love to win so I can start enjoying this series.
I can't say I have a favorite. I think all toutured heros make for great characters. I love to be able to have someone to root for. :)
That's a tough one. Just to be different, I'll say Saint from Sons of Navarus or Lachlan MacRieve from Immortals After Dark.
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
Lothaire from Immortals After Dark, Acheron from Dark Hunters... Those are the first that popped up in my mind :)
thank you for the giveaway and I love the interview!
I guess that Acheron and Zadist isn't very original of an answer, but they both had such a shitty life. I sobbed alout while reading Ash's story. Great post and questions. I love JD's writing and Jo Davis's series that have her HAWT firefighters!
I would agree with everyone, Zhadist would be my choice too1
I have to go with a classic, my first tortured hero is still my favorite: Heathcliff.
Acheron and Zarek from Dark Hunter series!
susanmplatt AT hotmail DOT com
Thanks for a fun post and congrats to JD on the new release! I'd also have to say Acheron
Phayne from J.R. Ward's Brotherhood series. (Reading Acheron was torture for me, more than Acheron, himself.)
I don't know ... but I've taken notw of what the other commenters said so I can check them out.
Oh, there are so many! One of my favorites is Demetrius from Elisabeth Naughton's book Tempted. Another is Acheron from Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Series. :)
Great interview! Thank you for the giveaway.
Oh I'm loving Micah already! Love a hero you just want to squeeze!
My favorites are right there with a lot of the others Zsadist, Zarek and Acheron. Best heroes. <3
Thanks ladies!!
Hi Nora,
The cover is pretty, isn't it? :) Thanks for coming by, I hope you enjoy the series!
Ilona and Sarah,
I agree. Tortured heroes make for great reading. Acheron is one of the best.
Sophia and Aly,

Herding Cats,
I'm so glad you love Micah! He's fast becoming one of my fave's. :) He'll get a bit more time in Hunter's Heart. Thanks for coming by!
Oh, if you´ve read Vicki Pettersson´s Signs of Zodiac, you´ll know how tortured Joanna Archer is, all through the series. Boy, those books are great but she´s so tormented, glad she got her HEA in the end.
Thanks for the giveaway and Happy Friday! =)
//Linda

Tegan from Midnight Breeds series. sdylion(at)gmail(dot)com

My favorite tortured hero is Zsadist from the BDB series.
purple975@msn.com
Jacob from the Vampire Queen series by Joey W Hill
It's hard to pick just one. :) There have been so many good ones.
luvfuzzzeeefaces at yahoo dot com
It's a tough choice, but I'll say Archeron!
For me tortured heroes have a fine line to walk before they become wimps LOL I have one I followed for a long time and he never let me down, he is Burke from the Burke series by Andrew Vachss - definitely tortured, definitely a hero, but never a wimp ;) I have not read this series and it looks like it is fun and I am looking forward to the read.
Hard choice I would probably go with either Wraith or Shade from the Demonica series.
I liked Christine Feehan's Dark Series so my favorite is Jacques from Dark Desire. He is tortured physically and mentally but Shea keeps him calm.
Everyone has some great tortured heroes. And I agree with them.
But I think Jacques from Dark Desire is my favorite.
DEMETRIUS from Elisabeth Naughton's Eternal Guardians series has to be my favorite.
Acheron and Zerek from Dark Hunter series. That two make me crying out.
oooh its between Z from Blackdagger Brotherhood or Clay from Nalini Singhs Psy/Changeling series I love those two! but from that interview I think I might be adding Micah Chase to that list soon :) Thanks for the great interview
and giveaway
amieesnow(at)gmail(dot)com
Saint from Blood Betrayed by Gabrielle Bisset. He just broke my heart.
Acheron from Dh. series. so love him!
thanks for the great giveaway!
miriam.whitewolf@gmail.com
I would have to answer with the name Z from the BDB series
That would have to Arthur Dent from The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy. I can't think of anyone more tortured than him.
dustykattc at hotmail dot com
I can't think of one right off the bat. I just read The Protectors by Bernard Lee DeLeo, so I'll say Connor. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Acheron
Chase from the Breed series.
I don't have a favorite. There are quite a few I like but no one stands out.
magic5905 at embarqmail dot com
Of course Z comes to mind, like a lot of others here (laughs). I can't think of any others at the moment though. 1 is on the tip of my tongue *pouts* too bad not literally!
I thank you for the chance at this giveaway!
Sebrina_Cassity at yahoo dot com
I also have to go with Zsadist.
