Giveaway and Interview with J.D. Tyler

Good Morning and Welcome to this stop on J.D. Tyler's tour of Black Moon!!  I was lucky enough to get an interview with her!!  This what she had to say:

Hello and Welcome to The Dungeon!  I’m so happy to have you here visiting and sharing your newest work.  Don’t mind the noise from the prison… err guests, they get noisy during their…treatments..lol. Let me clear a spot so you can have a seat.  Would you like some refreshments before you get started?

Thank you, it’s great to be here! Ooh, yes, a great big margarita on the rocks would be lovely, thank you!

Tell us a little bit about your book.

I’ll share the blurb with you:

A group of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top-secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers combating the greatest dangers in the world. But sometime those dangers are more intimate than they bargained for…

Ever since he saved Dr. Mackenzie Grant’s life, panther shifter and sorcerer Kalen Black has had trouble keeping the beautiful doctor out of his thoughts, and his heart. The brush with death awakened an intense passion between them—one that for the first time had the notorious loner letting down his guard.

With the Alpha Pack battling an evil Fae who is slowly gaining control over Kalen’s mind, Kalen can no longer trust his own actions, and he breaks off his affair with Mackenzie in order to keep her safe. But when Mackenzie learns that she is carrying Kalen’s child, no amount of danger will keep her away from the man she loves. To be with his mate and unborn child, Kalen will have to unleash the full fury of his power, and risk destroying them all…

What first sparked the series idea?

Readers are sometimes surprised to learn that I never imagined I would get the opportunity to write paranormal romance. I was busy writing romantic suspense as my alter-ego, Jo Davis, and enjoying that very much. My publisher actually came to me in 2010 and said they didn’t have an author writing shifters for them, and would I be interested in proposing a series? Would I ever!!
Extremely excited, I went to work on a series outline, and I knew I wanted my wolves to have a military background. What on earth is sexier than Navy SEALs? I also wanted them to have some other abilities, so I gave each Pack member a special Psy gift, such as the ability to start fires, move objects with his mind, see the future or the past, speak in others’ minds, etc. Combined with the shifting and military background, my men are sexy and heroic. The Alpha Pack was born, a black ops team that protects the world from all sorts of lethal human and non-human predators. I’m also working other types of shifters into their world, and I’m absolutely loving my work writing this series!
Who is the character that in your opinion everyone is going to fall in love with?

In future books, I think that’s going to be Micah Chase, Rowan’s brother who was rescued in SAVAGE AWAKENING. He’s been tortured, held captive for months, and is going down a path to destruction. He’s a vulnerable hero you just want to squeeze.

I have to ask, what are the hardest scenes for you to write?

In BLACK MOON, that’s a hard one to answer without giving away the big secrets! I guess in general, I can say that the scenes where Kalen is mentally struggling against being seduced to the side of evil by the Unseelie King Malik were among the hardest I’ve ever written. Writing a good man losing his mind, a man who’s never had love and wants it so desperately, and fighting against accepting a twisted form of love from a force who’s sweet-talking him, saying all the right things, was a great challenge. I think I pulled it off, but I’ll let the readers decide!
One of my favorite scenes in the book is the final battle, when Kalen unleashes the full power of his sorcery and commander Nick Westfall’s terrible vision comes to pass… How’s that for a tease?
How would you rate the sex scenes throughout the series?

Sex scenes in the series are very hot but not erotic. No multiple partners.

Are there any of these in your books?  (Hands one of the toy boxes on the right which is filled with sex toys, whips, body creams, lotions, lubes…and whatever else you can imagine J)

LOL. In the Alpha Pack series, there are none of those… at least so far!

Do you see yourself writing anymore stories in this series or a spin-off?

I have plans for the series to go on indefinitely. As long as readers want the books and the stories are still interesting to me, I’ll write them.

Are any of your characters reflective of you?

In this series, I don’t think so. Sometimes I think they’re more of a reflection of who I wish I could be instead of how I am. I’d love to be as tough and beautiful as Rowan Chase!

Tell us about some up and coming books.

Next up in the series is HUNTER’S HEART, the 4th installment in the Alpha Pack series. (Due to be released in late summer/fall 2013) This is Ryon Hunter’s story, and while I don’t have back cover copy yet to share, I can tell readers that 1) A big secret will be revealed involving the Alpha Pack, regarding a question posed back in PRIMAL LAW and 2) this is a “predator” story. It explores the question—what if one of Malik’s and Dr. Gene Bowman’s test subjects, an innocent human man, was an experiment gone wrong and accidentally got unleashed on the world when the labs were destroyed? Can Ryon, Ryon’s mate Daria, and the Pack save this man inside the creature? They’d better hope so. Because the most dangerous predator is the one you can’t see coming…
In spring of 2013, my Sugarland Blue series that centers on the Sugarland, Tennessee Police Department (written as Jo Davis) launches with the novella ARMED AND DANGEROUS in April. The next month, in May 2013 is the first book, SWORN TO PROTECT. Both the novella and full-length book feature the popular Detective Shane Ford, who first appeared in my Firefighters of Station Five series!
After that, I have two more books under contract—the 5th Alpha Pack book, character and story to be announced, and the 2nd Sugarland Blue book, tentative title HOT PURSUIT (could change). HOT PURSUIT is slated to be Detective Taylor Kayne’s story. Taylor is Shane’s partner in Homicide.

J.D. Tyler is an award-winning, multi-published author who writes for New American Library under three pseudonyms. Whether this is due to an overdose of ambition or a multiple personality affliction, she’ll never tell.
J.D. writes dark, sexy paranormal romance and has a huge thing for shifters, vampires, the Fae, and just about everything else that goes bump and grind in the night. She can’t get enough of those dangerous supernatural heroes, and the fun of creating her own was just too much temptation to resist… so she didn’t. J.D. doesn’t do self-denial.
When she isn’t writing, J.D.’s idea of a good time certainly isn’t cleaning house (sniff), bungee jumping (not in this lifetime, or the next), or camping (her idea of “roughing it” is a slow bellboy). She enjoys reading, being pampered like the diva she is, and spending time with her awesome family. She lives in Texas with her two teenagers.

Founded by a group of former Navy SEALS, the Alpha Pack is a top-secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers tasked with eliminating the most dangerous predators in the world. But the gift of their abilities comes at a price…
After a massacre decimates half his team and leaves him crippled, Jaxon Law must relearn how to fight—and battle the anger and guilt threatening to overwhelm him. But when he rescues a beautiful woman who reawakens his primal instincts, Jax is unprepared for the dangers that lie ahead.
On the run from her employer, brilliant lab assistant Kira Locke has evidence that leads the Alpha Pack on a hunt for someone targeting human civilians with Psy abilities. And as Jax and Kira circle both the killer and each other, Jax will have to decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth breaking the ultimate shifter rule—because bonding with Kira means putting his abilities at risk, and they might be the only tools he has to keep his mate alive…
An original Alpha Pack novella featuring the sexy sorcerer and panther shifter Kalen Black…

Recruited by the Alpha Pack, Kalen Black is still very much a lone wolf. But when a paranormal creature threatens the life of Dr. Mackenzie Grant, Kalen must use all of his abilities to rescue her. This brush with death excites a passion between them, and after a night of intense pleasure, Kalen leaves Mac with a mysterious gift that just might save her life again.…

After a mission goes wrong, Aric Savage is taken prisoner. Half-dead and despairing, he makes a stunning discovery: his Pack mate Micah Chase, who was reported dead, is a fellow captive. When the Alpha team goes into full-rescue mode, accompanying them is an absolute stunner with sable hair--and a spine of solid steel.

LAPD officer and Psy Dreamwalker Rowan Chase has one priority: her brother Micah's recovery. Still, she can't help but be drawn to Aric, the ruggedly handsome wolf shifter who pleasures her as no man ever has--however fleeting their affair is destined to be. But when Aric's life is endangered, Rowan must ask herself what she's willing to sacrifice in the name of love, for the man fated to be her Bondmate.
