Giveaway and Interview with author Parker Kincade and her book One Night Stand

Happy Wednesday!!  We have a packed in schedule full of naughty delights to help you get over the hump day!!  So lets begin with Parker Kincade.  Take it away sweetie!!:

How old were you when you first realized you wanted to write?

I wrote my first story when I was seven. It’s something I’ve always done, but I never allowed myself the chance to make a go of it until I graduated from college (at age 40). My dad and I were having a beer to celebrate and he asked me what was next. I told him I was going to write. His response was, “About time.” LOL! Honestly, I can’t remember a time I wasn’t writing something. It’s always been a part of who I am.

Most authors have an unusual story or way that they come up with their ideas for books…Do you have one?

My ideas usually come from something that’s happening around me at the time. For example, the idea for One Night Stand came while on a road trip – pretty much in the middle of nowhere – while mulling over relationship issues people close to me were experiencing. I played the “what if” game with myself…because honestly, what else am I going do to while driving across Texas? :)

This is generally the way it goes for me. I see something or an event happens and I think, “what if…” and voila. A new idea is born.

What was your biggest influence that steered you towards writing?

I’m very fortunate to have a whole slew of people who believe in me. The person who influenced me the most was my step-mom. She indulged my young stories and urged me to keep going. She gave me my first romance novel (when I was older, of course) and told me I could write like that too. If she ever doubted her words, she never let me know it. She’s an amazing lady.

I have to ask, what are the hardest scenes for you to write?

Sex scenes are the hardest for me. I am not a huge planner, but I do have a general idea about how the scene will go before I start. It’s like choreographing a dance. You don’t want to leave your reader scratching their head and saying, “he put his what where?” It has to be believable. Just as important, it has to be sexy, smokin’ hot and fresh.

Are sex scenes difficult for you to word?

Absolutely! For me, the greatest challenge is making each scene fresh and new – finding new ways describe different…um…acts, or figuring out creative ways my characters can get it on.

Do you see yourself writing in another genre?

I don’t want to say never, but I do love the romance genre. I may dabble in other things in the future, but romance is where my passion lies.

Has your family been supportive?

My family has been amazing.  My husband’s faith in me is humbling. My children are my greatest cheerleaders. My parents and siblings have been great. In a lot of ways, they have been waiting for this my whole life. I am a very lucky girl.

Are any of your characters reflective of you?
No. While I could find traits in my characters that are similar to mine, each of my characters have their own unique personalities.

What do you like to do when you're not writing?
My free time is seriously limited. If I’m not writing or otherwise working, you’ll find me reading, cooking or playing golf.

Who is your favorite book heroine?
Xhex from JR Ward’s Lover Mine (Black Dagger Brotherhood series). She’s a badass assassin and a “symphath.” She’s tough and has no problem keeping up with the Brothers. She also has a softer, more vulnerable side that reveals itself in her relationship with John Matthew. She’s my kind of heroine!

Do you have any unusual habits that revolve around writing?
I don’t like to work in complete silence, so I use brainwave music while I write. I have a vast assortment to choose from so I can change it up based on the type of scenes I’m working on.

What is you favorite mystical creature?

I love dragons, especially if they shift into sexy, alpha males. LOL!

What were some of your biggest challenges at the beginning of your career?

There are quite a few challenges when beginning any new career. Writing is no different. One of my biggest challenges was learning the “ropes” - writing a synopsis, a query letter, and the submission process. At times, it seems like writing the manuscript was the easy part!

How do you feel about reader comments?

I love to hear from my readers! It’s always nice to know how the readers feel about my work.

Do you have any advice for new authors?

The most important advice I could offer is this: keep writing; don’t get discouraged; stay true to yourself and your story; learn from those who know more than you. Never stop learning your craft. Strive to be the best you can be. Oh, and stay away from adverbs. LOL!

Where are your books available?

You can purchase One Night Stand by choosing one of the links below. It should be available for Nook users soon. Keep watching Barnes and Noble’s website!

What can we expect from you in the future?

Great and fabulous things! I am working on a four book series that I am excited about – connected stories that span the course of a year. I am also planning the next Martin Family book so I should be very busy for the next year or so!

Where can we reach you and become informed of updates?

Now, lets take a look at the book:

Amanda Martin has the worst taste in men. After being cheated on not once, but twice, she’s lost all faith in men … and in herself. Determined to regain her confidence, Amanda decides to have a one-night stand. No relationship, no promises, no threat of being hurt again … just sex. What she doesn’t anticipate is meeting a handsome-as-sin stranger who will give her pleasure unlike any she’s ever known.

Joe Sterling has spent his life avoiding relationships, his former job as a military sniper not allowing for such commitments. Now he’s come home to Texas, to let go of the past and to prove he is more than the killer he’s been trained to be.

When Amanda’s life is threatened, Joe’s killer instinct is tested while Amanda struggles to protect her heart. Will they succumb to their overwhelming desire for each other, or lose it all by letting the past dictate their future?

I don't think I could ever have a one night stand but I might have to think about that if Robert Downey Jr asked :O) Carin
