My paranormal / urban fantasy romance
trilogy, The Witching Pen Novellas, will be coming to a close at the end
of August, with the last book The Demon Bride, being released (although
there will be a spin-off, urban fantasy novel).
At its core, the trilogy is about the
journey of three women. Yes, there’s romance and each couple’s story, but
really, it’s more than that. Although I pride myself in not writing samey
things, each book does have a similarity: it contains a heroine who is
innocent on some level (the journey of the maiden), who discovers something
phenomenal and proceeds to go through a transformation of sorts (the journey of
the mother – transformations are always a form of birthing), and then becomes
wiser from the change, for better or worse (the journey of the crone).
So, we have the path of the triple goddess
(found in Wiccan / Pagan mythology and religion) paved out for the three women
in this trilogy: Elena in the first book, Amy in the second book, and Mary in
the third book.
Our heroes go through their own
realisations also, but really the core of the stories are female-centric,
despite the multiple points-of-view I like to write in.
So I was wondering as a reader, who do you
like to identify with then reading books? The female? The male? Or are you
someone who identifies with the plot and story, more than the characters? To
answer my own question, a book always has to have a good plot for me to
identify with anything. Characters – even sexy couples having damn hot sex (which
I definitely like in my reading material!) – don’t do it for me on their own.
It’s what they go through, and how they react to their environment and
obstacles that makes me carry on reading.

I like identifies with the plot and story, but never forget character to.

A lot depends on the story I am reading. Sometimes it's the hero, heroine and other times it is the whole plot and story. There are also time where I identify with everything in the book.
I think the plot and the character for me.
Plot sounds great.
All depends on the story,though usually, I tend
to gravitate towards the female,unless it's a really good
story from the guy's point
of view.
It really depends oon the type of story. But I'll go with a little of everyone. It's like having something for everyone wrapped all nice in a pretty bookish package :)

Definately depends on the story I like to identify with the plot and story but also with the characters thats what makes a book a great read for me is when its one where all the aspects come together and I can just fall into the book not re emerging until I finish it .

I'm more about the characters and their feelings. the mood of the character sets the setting for what is going on in the book.
I'm definitely a story person versus the characters. The characters can be the greatest ever, but if the storyline sucks then the characters will never reach their potential.
Whereas if the storyline is great, even weak characters can't mess it up for me.
Usually the heroine but probably a combination of everything.
I think the whole story most of the time :)
I like a lot of detail so I can be immersed completely in the setting of the story.
I get immersed in the the complete story but I do tend to try and see myself in the Female role :)
