Guest Post and Giveaway with Felicity Heaton and her newest book: Her Wicked Angel

Top 10 – Why angels are such a sexy lead

Thank you, Nikki, for having me here today at Close Encounters with the Night Kind as part of my Her Wicked Angel Virtual Book Tour!

First, here’s a little about me. I’m a paranormal romance author and I’ve been writing since 2005, and went indie in 2006. I love to write big worlds, populated by vampires, shifters, demons, fae and angels, and I have several series. This tour is about the Her Angel series, where passionate angels fight to protect the women they love in a deadly war between Heaven and Hell.

Today, I’m going to reveal why my angel heroes in particular make perfect, sexy leads and I’m going to illustrate it with moments from Her Wicked Angel.

FREE EBOOK: Want to get a free taste of this series? You can download the first book, Her Dark Angel, for free at selected ebook stores (and two other free paranormal romance ebooks too). Find all the links at: http://www.felicityheaton.co.uk/paranormal-romance-ebook-offers.php

#10 – Because they’re supposed to be good, but in reality they can be very, very naughty!
Angels are good, right? In this world, there are those who are very evil and wicked, and there are those who are very good… and both can be so naughty they will make your toes curl.

“I am thinking wicked things,” Asmodeus murmured in a low voice and ran his eyes over Liora, taking in every inch, recalling how she had looked when she had stood before him in the water, her body partially bared for his gaze and his touch.

She smiled. “Very wicked things?”

“The wickedest.” He ground his teeth as his loincloth pinched, too tight against his straining length. He wanted her again and wanted more this time. He wanted to claim her fully and sheathe himself in her hot body, taking her as his fingers had.

The feel of her quivering around him, her juices flowing hot and fast, and the sound of her cries of pleasure ringing around the hills, had driven him mad with a need to take her. He had wanted to part her milky thighs and thrust to the hilt, ripping another cry of bliss from her sweet lips.

“Very wicked indeed, judging by how dark your eyes have gone.” Her smile teased him, her hazel eyes twinkling with it. She liked that he couldn’t hide his desire from her or how fiercely he wanted her at all times.

#9 – Because they’re fiercely loyal!
These men have loyalty in spades. They’re dedicated to their duty and their fellow warriors, but when they fall in love, they become fiercely loyal to their woman and will prove it to her in the most romantic way they can, often forming a ‘contract’ with them to make that woman their new master:

“I’m afraid that I’m going to lose you… one way or another. I don’t want that to happen.”

Asmodeus wrapped her in his arms and curled his black wings around her too, shielding her completely and blocking out the world. “You won’t lose me. If I had the power, if my pledge to the monster who created me wasn’t eternal and unbreakable, I would swear fealty to you, Liora… if I had the power, I would make that binding contract between us in a heartbeat… but I do not and cannot. All I can do is offer you the heart that beats for only you.”

Liora shot back and stared up at him, her eyes so wide he could see white all around her irises. “You mean that?”

#8 – Because they’re powerful and aren’t afraid to kick ass when needed!
We all know angels are powerful, but these men have amazing skills as fighters and some have special abilities that allow them to kick ass on a major scale. They’re more than happy to unleash a world of pain on their enemy or anyone and anything who stands in their way, even if it’s one hundred times bigger than they are:

Asmodeus grinned and cast his gaze to his right, up the height of the spires of rock that reached upwards to tower above him.

A huge clawed foot appeared, grasping one spire and smashing it into dust. A second mirrored it, breaking down another pinnacle, sending boulders bouncing down the curved wall. They tumbled towards him, each bigger than he was. The shadows at his feet raced towards them and lashed at them, cracking as they connected and the boulders exploded, raining dust down on the black pavement of the courtyard.

Smoke curled up from behind the wall and then an emerald green eye emerged from the darkness, the vertical slit of its pupil roving the land below and then narrowing when it locked on him. An unholy roar shook the land and the dragon rose up, beating enormous black leathery wings, blasting hot air and dust at him.

Asmodeus beat his own wings, keeping himself steady and keeping the dust at bay so it didn’t steal his vision or choke his lungs.

The dragon landed on the broken section of wall. The basalt struggled to hold its immense weight, crumbling in places, causing the behemoth to stumble and fight for its footing. It beat its wings and cried out, its hooked beak opening to reveal rows of gleaming black teeth each longer than his blades.

Its skin turned black and eyes gradually melted into crimson.

Asmodeus welcomed the sign of its rage. Dragons fought best when angered and he wanted a good fight.

“Come.” He crooked his blades, beckoning the beast to him.

#7 – Because they have feathers and they love them to be stroked!
Oh yeah. These men have feathers and boy do they love it when their lady strokes them. Talk about sensitive men. The heroines in this world can melt their man with a single touch, or crank up the heat to an alarming degree!

“Can you put your wings away?” Liora’s hazel eyes lowered to his wing and, before Asmodeus could answer that he could if he desired it, she had reached over, laid her palm on the curve of his wing, and was running her hand down it.

Holy Hell, that felt good.

A shiver bolted through him, hot and fierce, reigniting his blood and making it burn for more. He wanted her to stroke his wing again, to caress it and tease him, driving him wild with need for her.

His fangs lengthened and he sensed the moment his irises brightened and began to verge on crimson. Her eyes widened and her fingers paused against his feathers.

She sounded breathless when she uttered, “You like me touching them?”

#6 – Because so much is new to them and introducing them to it all is hot!
Spent several thousand years in Hell? Or maybe a few centuries up in Heaven? You probably aren’t familiar with a lot of things the mortal world has to offer. The heroines in this world get to introduce their angels to all manner of things, from their first bite of food to their first… well, you get the picture:

Liora reacted to Asmodeus in the same way she reacted to everything. She embraced her impulses and was in his arms before she could reconsider what she was doing or even contemplate how far south of crazy she was about to go. She tiptoed, slid her right hand around the back of his neck and dragged his mouth down to hers. The moment her lips meshed with his, he froze, going stock-still and as stiff as a board.

Either he didn’t want her quite as much as he had just said or the impossible was possible after all and he had never done this before.

“Relax,” she murmured against his lips and was pleasantly surprised when he obeyed her and the rigidness left his shoulders and his neck, and his mouth fused with hers.

She moved her lips across his, gently grazing them and easing him into it, and he began to mimic her. She liked the firmness of his lips and how his hands settled possessively on her hips, drawing her front against the full delicious length of his. She tilted her head back further, not wanting to break the kiss for any reason.

#5 – Because caffeine and angel stamina make for wild nights!
What’s hotter than an angel who has incredible immortal stamina at his disposal? He’s still a guy. He’ll need a break from time to time. Here’s how you fix it:

“I know what caffeine does to angels so we’ll keep away from that.” Liora couldn’t resist teasing him a little more to get a reaction from him though. Proof of innocence, as it were.

Asmodeus’s frown deepened. “What does it do?”

She motioned a rising action with her rigid right index finger, swinging it slowly upwards, and pointedly looked down at his black loincloth and the worn strips of armour covering it.

His eyes went wide and a blush darkened his cheeks, visible even through the blood and grime. He looked down at his crotch and then up into her eyes.

“It will make me hard?”

#4 – Because they have some seriously revealing armour!
The angels in this world have bodies to die for and armour that reveals enough tantalising glimpses of muscle to make your knees quiver. What’s sexier than a short breastplate that is moulded to mimic muscles and reveals their stomachs, paired with a tiny loincloth covered in teasing strips of armour, and then vambraces and greaves? Well, there’s always a special exception to the rule, and that would be Asmodeus, who has lost some vital parts of his armour:

Liora stepped back so she could fully admire him as he stripped off the metal armour around his hips, revealing the black loincloth he wore beneath. If she had sounded breathless before, she could barely speak now. He stole her voice as he moved, his powerful cut muscles bunching and relaxing, enticing her to stop him so she could trail her lips over each and every one of them and moan her approval. He bent and removed the armour that protected his shins, and then his black leather boots.

He placed them carefully near the pool and she bit back a smile. He valued what little armour he had and she could understand why. He had already lost vital pieces of it, leaving him exposed and vulnerable. If she could, she would hire the best blacksmiths in the world to craft armour of his liking and give it to him so he felt complete again.

Asmodeus turned his back to her and all rational thought fled at the sight of his delicious backside wonderfully cupped by tight black material. Liora wanted to rip it off with her teeth.

#3 – Because there’s nothing more forbidden than an angel for a lover!
Angels are serving a higher power and surely that means that they should be off limits? Tell that to them. They’ll do all in their power to convince you that you’re on to a good thing and won’t let you find excuses. If they want to be with you, they will be with you, and you had better accept it:

“Asmodeus?” she whispered and stared up into his eyes. “What are you thinking in there? Your eyes are swirling like gold fire.”

A product of his emotions. They were slipping beyond his grasp and he had the strangest desire to embrace them and the sliver of good he held locked deep within.

Because of her.

What did the Devil want with her? He had a feeling it wasn’t to breed with her. She was Serenity’s cousin. A witch. She would produce powerful offspring and might be strong enough to bring a child to term, but she would also be likely to fight the Devil just as Erin had and refuse to surrender her babe.

Her soft hand cupped his cheek.

His eyes closed against his will and he inhaled sharply. Heat spread outwards from where they touched, surging through his body and setting his feelings free and his blood on fire.

Whatever the Devil’s plans for her, they would not come to pass.

Asmodeus would not let him have her.

Liora would belong to him.

#2 – Because they will do whatever it takes to protect their woman!
These men are alpha to the core and they are fiercely protective and possessive of their woman, and no matter how dire the odds are, they will fight for them and will stop at nothing to ensure their safety and that they end up back where their belong, in their arms… even take on the Devil:

Asmodeus called both of his curved golden blades to his hands and growled at the Devil. “I will not bring her to you.”

“Bring her to me.” The Devil raised his hands at his sides, black fire chasing over them, and the oppressive weight of his power increased, pushing down on Asmodeus.

Asmodeus readied his blades and drew in a fortifying breath. “I will never let you have her.”

“It is not a question of let, Maggot. You will obey whether you like it or not.”

The tug came again, stronger this time, pulling him towards Liora. Asmodeus ground his molars together and fought it, focusing all of his strength on denying the Devil’s command.

“Never,” Asmodeus roared and launched himself up the steps at the Devil.

#1 – Because when they fall in love and they fall hard!
The number one thing about why my angels are the hottest leading men out there? When these powerful males fall in love, they fall damn hard:

“Liora,” Asmodeus whispered, his heart expanding in his chest, aching to see her again. “I would slay anything for her. I would die for her.”

“You are missing the point,” Apollyon said and Asmodeus looked at him, surprised to catch warmth in his blue eyes, a touch of compassion and understanding. His twin had never looked at him with anything other than disgust before. “Liora is your reason to live. You will live for her… even when you feel you cannot go on and your end is near, you will not give up because you want to live for her.”

“With her.” Asmodeus wanted to be with her right that moment, looking into her hazel eyes and hearing her soft melodic voice caressing his ears, bathing in her smiles and tender touches, and savouring the sweetness of her kiss.

Apollyon shook his head, a look of pity in his eyes. “She has you well under her spell.”

If only he knew. She had cast it upon Asmodeus the moment he had set eyes on her and had held him under her thrall ever since, powerless to fight her, unable to resist her, desperate to win her against all the odds.
