Giveaway and Guest Post with author DX Luc and her book The Wager: Touch of the Gods

Hello and welcome to this stop on DX's tour!!  I always had a thing for the underdog, and in Greek mythology this label surely falls to Hephaestus.  He has a rather sad story and isn't given a happy ending.  Well DX hopes to change all that with her book.  But first we are going to see her feelings on goodbyes.

It's so hard to write a goodbye.

When I started writing Touch of the Gods: The Wager, I didn't realize just how attached I would become to my characters until I had to plot out a goodbye. Even when I prepared myself, my heart still broke for both my hero and heroine. Needless to say, I had to take a break for a few days just to compose my emotions once more.

Here's a glimpse of such a goodbye for you. Enjoy and thanks for having me today.

******

Heph blew the horn, letting me know it was time to go. He probably didn't have long and we wanted to spend what little time he had left, in each other's arms. So, giving my sister a tight, long hug goodbye, I jogged to the truck, got in and waved as we drove off.

With only the music playing, the bass vibrating the car while he drove his face remained an unreadable mask.

When we made it to my home, I saw that his little house already had a ‘For Sale’ sign out front. Just the sight of it, broke my heart, knowing the inevitable was coming faster than I could stand.

Hephaestus opened my door, holding out his hand his fingers looked transparent.

I feared grabbing hold, thinking he would fade away before I could hold him one last time.

Luckily, he took hold of me, still very solid in form and pulled me into his arms, just as the truck faded from the realm, but he kept me walking until we were inside my home. He kissed me in the foyer his motions, gentle, loving and by the time we reached the bedroom, we had managed to undress, our entwined bodies landing on the bed in a tangled heap.

With no time for foreplay, I spread my legs I just wanted to have him fill me. When I felt his thick, long heat slide deep inside my aching body, I sighed with joy. I caressed him with my hands from his back, down along his tapered waist, pausing on the side where his scar resided to stroke it lovingly. Finally, my hands rested on his firm ass while it clenched with each thrust. Our love making, for I had no other word to describe the union, was bittersweet. A poem started in my mind of what could have been, but it didn't become a whole piece. With several more decadent and glorious plunges, we both came, my pussy milking his cock, trying to imprison him, but I knew it wouldn't work.

One last shudder, and Hephaestus collapsed on me his weight crushing, but I welcomed it. Listening as his heart slowed.

After a few minutes, he pushed back onto his elbows, looking down at me with his glowing, immortal eyes. “Glykiá mou, Vanessa. S 'agapó̱. Poté den tha xechásete.”

“What did you say?”

“I said, ‘My sweet, Vanessa. I love you. I will never forget you’. And I truly mean that. You have become branded on my heart.” His body began to shimmer under the light of the moon coming through my bedroom window, and it was as though he was turning into the embers of a fire, floating away in the breeze.

“Please Heph, I love you. Stay a little longer —leave in the morning.”

“I can't. Remember the hammer. Call me, I'll come, but I can never stay.”

“Heph...”

The glow increased, until I couldn't look into it, and turned my face away until it died down. When I opened my eyes, I found myself alone in my bed, with no sign that Hephaestus ever existed in my life. I dove to my nightstand, opening it and sighed in relief. I hadn't dreamed the whole thing, staring down at both the necklace he made me, and the vial of ambrosia still resting in the drawer, waiting. Pushing it closed, I curled up under my blankets, smelling his lingering scent and finally allowed the pain to take over.

My tears fell, not in the same way as they had under the false emotions given to me by Ares, but of true love, gone away and it sucked. What would I do? For now, I would cry, and then hopefully when my tears dried, I'd have my answer.

Thank you DX for sharing that with us.  Let's take a look at the book details:

Blurb:

When love and war makes a little wager, what could possibly go wrong?

I am Hephaestus. God of inventions, blacksmiths, and volcanoes. Sounds like I'm awesome right? Well, I'm not. In fact, I'm the loser of Olympus and a new bachelor to boot. Living the single life is great until a decade passed. Honestly if my divorce from the Goddess of Love wasn't bad enough, I am still being rejected by the other women of my home.

Because of an incessant need to make me a pawn in his game, my brother, Ares convinces Eros to make a little bet. A wager that puts my lack of love life to the test. Sent to Earth, I'm skeptical, when suddenly I lose myself in the sensual scent and beauty of the full bodied Vanessa. She is my everything, my perfection.

Sadly, from a single caress upon her silky flesh, I sent our lives into a downward spiral of hell. To save her, I must get beyond my demons of the past. And to save me, she will have to decide if I'm worth giving up everything for.

Bio:

An avid reader since I was a child, I never found a book I disliked. Mostly, you could find me lost in Shakespeare, Edgar Allen Poe, or Ernest Hemingway, and my most favorite, Ancient Greek literature. Taking my love of books, I started writing poetry, short stories, and even helped with screen writes for my drama club.

By the time I was in my teens, my older sister introduced me to my first romance novel, The Hawk and the Dove by Virginia Henley. The moment I fell into the world of love, I was hooked, and my addiction for more grew until I found myself delving deeper into the erotic.

After being convinced that I had the skills to try my hand at writing, I went to work on my first story Down the Yellow Brick Road: Finding Home. And since being published, I've not looked back.

Now, as a busy mom of three, that home schools, drives to activities, and manages to find time to just cuddle with my husband of ten years, I have to say, I love being naughty when I get the chance. It's freeing and I wouldn't want it any other way!

Now...Would you like to win a copy of this book?  It sounds amazingly good!!  Just fill out the rafflecopter!!  Good Luck!!

Hmm, most recently I read Lisa Beth Darling's Aries God of War and I enjoyed that.

DX's book sounds good. I've always felt sorry for Hephaestus so I'm glad to see someone giving him a love story.

Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

I really don't have a favorite Greek book. The only one I remember reading was a story about Hades and Persephone and I don't remember the title but I think it was written by Selena Kitt.
