Giveaway and Interview with Jacob Flores and his book When Love Takes Over

Happy Hump day my decadent lovelies!!  Today I have Jacob Flores telling us all about his Hot new M/M romance, When Love Takes Over.  Let's see what we discover when we take Jacob down to the dungeon....lol.
Hello and Welcome to The Dungeon!  I’m so happy to have you here visiting and sharing your newest work.  Don’t mind the noise from the prison… err guests, they get noisy during their…treatments..lol. Let me clear a spot so you can have a seat.  Would you like some refreshments before you get started?

Vodka and Sprite please. I just love a good cocktail while listening to the moans of your guests. It’s quite relaxing. And thank you for having me. Although from the moans, I can tell you have many people over. I like that. It makes me want to go exploring a bit. How about you take me on a tour after the interview?

You have a deal!!  Tell us a little bit about your book.

I’d love to. When Love Takes Over is the first book of the Provincetown Series, and it tells the story of Zach Kelly and Van Pierce. After he’s unceremoniously dumped by his boyfriend of three years, Zach head to P-town to rediscover himself and his lost writing voice. He’s looking for an escape from his troubles and plans on having nothing but a good time. But then he meets Van, a hunky porn star, at a leather shop. There’s instant attraction between both men, but neither is looking for anything more than a casual fling. Zach is trying to get over his ex, and Van has had his heart broken more times than he cares to admit. That’s why Van turned to the adult film industry. But when Zach and Van meet, what they want and what they get are two totally different things.

What first sparked the series idea?

Actually, my husband and I have been vacationing during the summer in Provincetown, Massachusetts, for the past eight years. I love it there and have yet to find any place like P-town. So, when I was looking for my next project, my husband suggested that I write about Provincetown. I swear. That man is a genius! We’d been to Provincetown so much that I had so many stories just waiting to be told. That’s when I realized one book wouldn’t be enough to tell them all. Hell, four books aren’t enough. When it comes to Provincetown, nothing is ever enough.

Who is the character that in your opinion everyone is going to fall in love with?

I think readers will fall in love with Zach because he’s so relatable. He’s shy and inexperienced, but he’s a good guy who’s trying to figure out why his life has gone to hell so quickly. Who doesn’t identify with that? At the very least, we all know someone like Zach in our lives. Plus, Zach is a bit socially awkward and a major klutz. The first time he meets Van, he crashes through a shelf of fetish gear in a leather store. Talk about your first impressions!

I have to ask, what are the hardest scenes for you to write?

The hardest are the sex scenes. To write a good sex scene requires a lot of work. It can’t just be a wham, bam, thank you, sir. There has to be emotion tied to the act that translates to the reader. Plus, you have to stimulate all five of the reader’s senses. It’s not just what the character is experiencing through touch, but how do they taste? What do they smell? What sounds are being made? What is being said? It’s a lot to create in order for it to be realistic.

Plus, when writing sex scenes, I do tons of research. If I say a character is being bent a certain way, I have to make sure it can actually be done. Thankfully, my husband is in full support of my research.

LOL!!  I bet he is an excellent research partner!  How would you rate the sex scenes throughout the series?

I would say steamy to hot, especially in When Love Takes Over. Not only do we have Van the porn star, who loves to power bottom, but we also have Zach. He’s just broken up with his boyfriend, so naturally he’s got some wild oats to sow. There’s two public sex scenes, one porn sex shoot, and that’s not counting the sex that Van and Zach have together. But while the sex is pretty hot, the book is not just about the characters getting off. It’s about how they find themselves in each other.

Are there any of these in your books?  (Hands one of the toy boxes on the right which is filled with sex toys, whips, body creams, lotions, lube…and whatever else you can imagine J)

Well, Zach and Van meet in a leather shop, so these items are everywhere in that scene! Zach, who’s never really explored his naughty side, is caught off guard by the butt plugs, gas masks, and aprons. Luckily, though, when he and Van finally shed their clothes, Zach’s more dominant side breaks free, and Van absolutely loves it.

Do you see yourself writing anymore stories in this series or a spin-off?

Yes to both questions. There are a total of four books in this series, one of which is a spin-off. Chasing the Sun, which is the next book, releases in October/November. It’s a novella and a spin-off of When Love Takes Over. It tells the story of Zach’s father, Gil Kelly, and his search for love back in Texas. The next two books, When Love Gets Hairy and When Love Comes to Town, continue in Provincetown. Each one has a different set of main characters, who the reader is introduced to in the previous book.

Each book captures a different aspect of Provincetown’s spirit.

Are any of your characters reflective of you?

Wow! Too many of them are. I put aspects of myself in many of my characters. Zach inherited my socially awkward personality. Justin from 3 possesses by stubborn and selfish qualities, and his partner Spencer took on my more vulnerable side.

If you put all the characters together, readers get a good look at the kind of person I really am. Which is basically a hot mess.

Tell us about some up and coming books.

Well, besides the rest of the books from the Provincetown Series I mentioned earlier, I’m planning on a new destination series set in Key West. I’m in the planning stages of that project. There will only be three books in that series, and they will be novellas. With the Key West Series, I hope to capture the locale’s distinct character, as I believe I did with Provincetown.

I’m so happy you have made this a stop.  Would you like a tour of the…err…levels?  J I can introduce you to the “guests”, if you just hand me that box back.

I’m dying for a tour! And I brought my own box of toys just in case I might need them. You never know when a flogger might come in handy!

Let’s get you suited up:
Wine, mixed drink, or straight up? Mixed drink please. Vodka and Sprite usually does the trick before the treat.
Leather straps or chains? Leather straps. The smell of leather drives me crazy. It smells like man and sweat. What isn’t there to like about that?
Cat-o-nine, braided leather, or chain length whip? Collar and Leash or Adornment? Braided leather and a collar and leash are mandatory. I like to show off what’s mine. And tell everyone that I’m in complete control.
Leather studded bodysuit or corset top? Bodysuit works best for me. I don’t have the right frame for a corset.

Fishnets or garter-belt? Neither. I prefer bare skin. The snapping sound of a quick strike against bare flesh is all I need.

Leather pants, mini, or a long skirt slitted up both sides? Leather pants. It shows off what I want to show off

Lace up boots (with or without heels) or come F*** me high heels? Lace up boots. That’s what the Dom in me requires.
Ball gag, manacles, or blindfold? I prefer the blindfold. It’s better for the Sub when he doesn’t see what’s coming. He likes it that way.
The rack or the whipping post? The rack. Every time.
Candle wax or clamps. Clamps. That way you can tug them and make the Sub squirm
Blonde, red-head, Brunette, or Supernatural J? I like them all, but I’ve always had a thing for dark hair and blue eyes.

Thank you for letting me visit your dungeon. It’s been loads of fun! I also want to thank everyone who joined me here today.
For those interested, I have included the blurb and an excerpt below. Additionally, as part of my blog tour I’m holding a contest. All you have to do is leave a comment to this post, and your name is entered to win a free copy of When Love Takes Over. If a reader happens to follow all my blog stops, then she or he can leave a comment at the other sites a well. At the end of the tour, a winner will be chosen and announced.

Blurb:
Zach Kelly’s life is a shambles. His boyfriend of three years dumped him, and his writing career is going nowhere. On a whim, he heads to Provincetown, Massachusetts, to nurse his broken heart and figure out his next step. He’s expecting to find rest and relaxation on the sandy beaches of Cape Cod. Instead, Zach meets a hunky porn star during a chance encounter at a leather shop he mistakes as a place to buy a belt that is definitely not for whipping.
Van Pierce is smitten when shy and inexperienced Zach crashes through a shelf of fetish gear. Though Van’s got an insatiable appetite for men on and off the set, his porn persona, Hart Throb, hides a broken heart. He’s struggling to find the reality the porno set doesn’t offer, and Zach is fighting to find the fantasy that will set his writing on fire. The odd goofball and the suave beefcake may either find love amid Provincetown’s colorful pageantry where summer never seems to end—or more heartbreak than either can imagine.
Excerpt:
Van Pierce rested on all fours as the muscled, hung top behind him drove his cock relentlessly inside Van’s guts. The force of each thrust massaged his prostate at just the right rhythmic intervals. His cock leaked precum onto the black-leather play sheets their director, Johnny Tripp, had purchased for the shoot they were filming in Provincetown.

Slick with both men’s sweat from forty minutes of hardcore fucking since their last break, Van’s knees slid farther apart. His costar, who went by the name Ram Steele, took full advantage of the extra room. Ram balanced himself on one knee while his left leg jutted out at a right angle. He then grabbed Van by his shoulders and impaled him backward on his nine-inch cock.

Van loved the feel of a man inside his butt. Opening himself up, taking another guy’s hard, throbbing prick all the way to the hilt, somehow made him feel more alive, more like the man he always knew he was.

When the cameras were rolling and the clothes came off, he turned into his alter ego, Hart Throb. Horny men pulled their puds while watching him power-bottom. They wanted him. They desired him. More than anything else, they longed to possess him and make Hart their own, but Hart wasn’t someone who could be possessed.

At least not for long.

Sure, he fulfilled their fantasies. Whatever his randy followers wanted, he became. It was his job to embody sex, to transform into its living, panting, slutty representative. It was what sold the movies and kept him fed.

And it was certainly a far cry from being regular Van Pierce, the guy who men loved taking advantage of, and dumb fuck that Van was, he let them.

Something Hart would never do.

Even though Hart played the bottom, he remained in complete control. The men in his videos were there to please him, not the other way around. Van had never been able to draw that line. He’d let the men in his past use him. He was their toy to be played with, to be put on display at a sex club and fucked by strangers. To be loaned out to good friends and then to be discarded when the toy had lost its shiny, new appeal.

What he’d thought had been about pleasure and trust turned out to be tools for degradation and deceit.

After having his heart broken and stomped on far too many times, his good nature snapped like the waistband of a worn-out jockstrap, and Hart Throb was born.

Now, he could have his sex and eat it too without the ridicule and humiliation that usually accompanied a relationship. Hart Throb didn’t have to worry about love, not in this industry. That kept Van safe and his ass plugged by whatever hot top the production studio cast in a scene with him.

He was free to give his body without handing over his heart. It was his job, after all, and one he did quite well.

About the Author:
Jacob Z. Flores lives a double life. During the day, he is a respected college English professor and mid-level administrator. At night and during his summer vacation, he loosens the tie and tosses aside the trendy sports coat to write man on man fiction, where the hard ass assessor of freshmen level composition turns his attention to the firm posteriors and other rigid appendages of the characters in his fictional world.

Summers in Provincetown, Massachusetts, provide Jacob with inspiration for his fiction. The abundance of barely clothed man flesh and daily debauchery stimulates his personal muse. When he isn’t stroking the keyboard, Jacob spends time with his husband, Bruce, their three children, and two dogs, who represent a bright blue blip in an otherwise predominantly red swath in south Texas.
