Promotion in Motion

I was listening to Billy Squire’s Emotions in Motion while writing this blog post—hence the title, lol.

Hello, everyone. I’m so glad to be on Close Encounters of the Knight Kind. Thank you so much Nikki McCarver for having me.

Going by the title of this post, I’m sure you’ve guessed what the topic of the day is...and you’d be correct if you were thinking promotion.

So...yeah...I’m promoting. LOL, dang, I’m sitting here wondering what the hell to write about. Well, my book, obviously. But what should I say about it? It’s awesome? You’ll love it? LOL, I even offer a money back guarantee? Scratch that last one, because I’m not offering a money back guarantee.

Maybe I should just keep this post simple? Say something like, buy Prophecy’s Child.

LOLOLOL, oh man, that made me laugh. But seriously, if I came across an author’s post, and all he/she said was buy my book, I might buy it, because this is what we are all thinking...right? Really, that’s what these posts are all about: BUY MY BOOK.

This reminds me of a post I wrote back when I was promoting my first novel, Love’s Prophecy. I actually tried to use subliminal messaging. LOL, I seriously did! In each sentence I’d squeeze in Love’s Prophecy in small letters. Here’s an example—not from the original post, mind you:  As a published author, promoting Love’s Prophecy my name and books is a must. Do Love’s Prophecy I like doing it? Not so much.

LOL, I bet you’re wondering if this form of promotion worked. I made a few sales, but I can’t really remember—that was quite some time ago. My brain has a hard enough time remembering what the hell happened yesterday, let alone a year or so ago.

Anyway, enough farting around. I’m here to promote PROPHECY’S CHILD. I’m here to get my name and my book out there, in front of potential readers. I’m here to say, my book, Prophecy’s Child is awesome, and you should all give it a try.

But you know what? I feel like a heel tooting my book’s horn. *Slap* Bad Brenda. I have to be busting with confidence, be self assured. Well, I am busting with confidence when it comes to my books.

How about I let my book do the talking and convincing since I apparently suck at it, lol.

Katherine glared at him. “Let’s drop the niceties, and get down to why you’re here.”

Kal’s smile faltered.

“As you’ve already guessed, you are Ike’s father—but don’t worry, it won’t change your life. You don’t have to be involved in any way, physically or financially.”

Kal rested his forearms along his thighs and clasped his hands. “But I want to be involved…in both ways.”

“Maybe I didn’t make myself clear. I don’t want you involved. Ike doesn’t know you’re his father and he never will.”

Silence pulsed between them.

Kal was the first to break the staring contest. “Look, I understand why you’re—”

“You understand nothing.” Fury almost choked her. “Nothing! Do you understand that?”

A muscle ticked along his jaw. “You have every right to be upset, but if you’d give me a chance to explain—”

“Oh, now you’re giving me permission to be angry?” She laughed, but the sound was more of a snort. “That’s very generous of you.”

“Damn it, that’s not what I meant. If I could go back and change what I did, I would, but I can’t. All I can change is the present and future.”

“Then do it somewhere else.”

Kal remained quiet for a moment, then he spread his arms wide. “I’m sorry. Obviously I handled things poorly. But if you give me a chance, I’ll explain everything.”

Nothing he had to say could take away the hurt, fear and heartache she’d suffered. And honestly, she didn’t want to hear his lame-assed excuses. But he sure as hell would hear how his decision ten years ago had set in motion the avalanche that crashed into her, changing her life.

I adored Love's Prophecy and could not wait for this book to come to fruition.  This book proved to be well worth the wait!!  There were many interesting twists to the book.  It was unique in a way that book 1 was NOT the beginning of the series.  Even though we believe Breena and Mel got the ball rolling, we find out quite a different story in book 2.  It seems our easy-going Kal was actually one of the first choosen to meet his mate.  He just didn't believe that Kat would stay with him if he revealed all of his secrets.  His silence and secrecy turn out to be his worst enemies in the fight to win back the love he had abandoned, but never forgotten.  

Another twist was poor Kat.  She went from having it all, to losing everything and having to start over again with literally nothing.  She was an admirable woman.  She struggled had to fight for her place in this world and to raise her son right.  She actually was a very realistic character.

I'm watching out for Soren's book.  He is one of my favorite characters.I love the world-building in this series.  To think of vampires as being created by an angel is an incredible concept.  It is an amazing place to visit, and I can't wait to come back for more!!
