Giveaway and Release Day Party with Linda Nightingale and her newest book Sinner's Opera and Cardinal Desires

Forensic psychiatry is a sub-speciality of psychiatry and is related to criminology.[1] It encompasses the interface between law and psychiatry. A forensic psychiatrist provides services – such as determination of competency to stand trial – to a court of law to facilitate the adjudicative process.  (FROM WIKIPEDIA)

In Cardinal Desires, Katy McCaulley, the heroine, is a forensic psychiatrist who consults with Scotland Yard on serial killings.  The hero, Sterling Fox, is a high profile reporter who conducts live broadcasts from the world’s biggest news stories.  Police and media do not mix, but Katy can’t resist her attraction to the handsomest and most dynamic man she’s ever met.

Join me in celebrating the release of Cardinal Desires, my second paranormal romance from Double Dragon Publishing.  An excerpt of the book is available at:  http://www.double-dragon-ebooks.com/

I’m giving away a download of Cardinal Desires, an autographed cover flat, and a Sinners’ Opera pen to one commenter.  A download of my take of the legend of the Grigori (the angels who fell in love and fell from Grace), The Night Before Doomsday¸ will be given away, too, so please talk to me!

This party is also for Sinners’ Opera, a paranormal romance, about an English lord, concert pianist, and a man with a dark secret.

Blurb:

Morgan D’Arcy is a classical pianist, an English lord and a vampire.  He has everything except what he desires most—Isabeau.  When she was a child, he appeared to her as the Angel Gabriel, influencing her life and career choice, preparing her to become Lady D’Arcy.  Many forces oppose Morgan’s daring plan—not the least of which is Vampyre law.  A vampire must not sire a child on a mortal.

Isabeau Gervase is a brilliant geneticist engaged to a prominent attorney. Though she no longer believes in angels, she sees a ticket to a Nobel Prize in the genetic puzzle presented by her long-absent childhood friend. She intends to unravel Gabriel’s secrets, using the DNA contained in a lock of his hair and identify the non-human species she named the Angel Genome.

Morgan is ready to come back into Isabeau’s life, but this time as a man—and a vampire—not an angel.  Will he outsmart his enemies, protect his beloved and escape death himself?  For the first time in eternity, the clock is ticking.

If you’d like to listen to an excerpt of the book read by a very British gentleman, visit The Ghost in the Machine Podcast.   http://ghostinthemachinepodcast.com/?p=422  John Macrae-Hall’s enchanting accent and voice perfectly fit the hero, Morgan D’Arcy.  For anyone who’d like, I’ll be glad to send a CD with an MP3 of the reading.

This month is Halloween.  Wouldn’t you like to read about scary, sexy, handsome vampires?

Now, let’s party!  Pass the champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.  From Cardinal Desires, a posh, formal, elegant affair:

Katy's memory was forever scarred.

Images of a naked girl sprawled on the cobblestones of a Whitechapel alley haunted her drive to the London Hilton.  Death had restored innocence to the painted face, but the mangled throat and the posturing of the drained body had turned Katy’s blood to ice.  She shook off the memory, nosing her Jaguar into the Rolls, Bentleys and Aston Martins queued up for the valet.  Show time, she plastered on a smile joining the guests streaming into the hotel.  She wanted to forget the bodies stacking up in the morgue and have a good time tonight.  Tomorrow, she'd reexamine the facts, add brush strokes to a psychological portrait of the killer.

The gala crowd in the Prince Albert Ballroom surged dizzily around her.  Conversation floated on the glitter of crystal and china.  Black tuxedos drifted on a sea of rainbow dresses.  Wealthy business figures mingled with aristocracy.  No one seemed aware that, beyond the doors of the grand hotel, Eden was cruel and deadly.  The murderer might gaze over the brim of a champagne glass.  You never knew what wretched soul lurked behind a smile.

A glint of light on gold captured Katy’s gaze.  The crowd parted.  The gold became the luxuriant hair of a young man.  When he shook his head, she could almost feel the softness of the mane cascading down his black coat.  What would it feel like to run her fingers through a stranger's hair?  She bit the lower lip of a grin, imagining actually caressing the man’s silky tresses.  As if he’d sensed her scrutiny, the man turned.  She tensed.  His face might break the promise of beauty his hair had made.

Crystal chandeliers haloed the blond hair and highlighted the face of an angel.  Recognition whispered in her ear.  Morgan D'Arcy, the renowned pianist performing for tonight’s benefit, gave her the ghost of a smile.  Amusement glittered in his blue eyes.  The man ionized the air around him!  Magnetized, she took a tentative step, but the crowd closed around him.

Cardinal Desires will be available from Double Dragon Publishing on October 15 and on sale at Amazon.   http://www.double-dragon-ebooks.com/

Both books sound really good. A vampire who is a concert pianist is an original idea!

I wonder if there are any actors the author pictured as the main role in their book?

How hard was it to find the perfect voice for Morgan? And I would love a copy of the CD so I can listen him. The excerpts were fabulous. You have gained a fan for life. I'm also incredibly curious now. I need to know what happens. Thanks so much for sharing. michelle_willms@yahoo.com
