In this seductive follow-up to Poison Princess, #1 New York Times bestselling author Kresley Cole takes us deeper into the dark world of the Arcana Chronicles.
Shocking Secrets
Evie has fully come into her powers as the Tarot Empress, and Jack was there to see it all. She now knows that the teens who've been reincarnated as the Tarot are in the throes of an epic battle. It's kill or be killed, and the future of mankind hangs in the balance.
Unexpected Allies
With threats lurking around every corner, Evie is forced to trust her newfound alliance. Together they must fight not only other Arcana, but also Bagmen zombies, post-apocalyptic storms, and cannibals.
Gut-Wrenching Treachery
When Evie meets Death, things get even more complicated. Though falling for Jack, she's drawn to the dangerous Endless Knight as well. Somehow the Empress and Death share a history, one that Evie can't remember—but Death can't forget.
My Review:
I have a confession to make: I was NOT a die hard Jack fan at the end of book 1. Yes...he did save her and yes I can definitely see the white knight appeal that Evie though she saw in him. To me he raised a lot of red flags...how did he just happen upon Evie? Why was he so obsessed with her? And how even at the the end of times does he keep finding alcohol? lol. He was questionable to me at the end of the first book and even more so at the beginning of this one. But we love the ultimate bad-boy and well Jack has all of those qualities. Then Death walks in....
So he has been stalking her throughout the first book. Telling her how he is coming for her...calling her creature...basically egging her on and making her hate him. Evie is already at a disadvantage because she wasn't brought up knowing who she is and she hasn't been able to access all of her memories. She is so torn throughout this book its almost painful to watch...but no more so than Death.
I'm a sucker for a bad boy with a back-story and man does death have one! He was a major bomb that blew up mid-way throughout the story and knocked out all of your suspicions and assumptions. I must admit that I did fall for Death in this story, in a way that I couldn't for Jack. I even feel a little guilty about it. But Death was created and has spent his life alone, unable to touch anyone because of his curse. He is my kind of twisted hero, and now Evie is locked between two men. Which one will win?
Death made a comment while talking that has stuck in my mind.....He mentioned an unactivated card, which totally blew my mind. This series is a must read for fans of dips into the realm of darkness!! I have really fallen for this new series!!

I still need to read the first one.
I'm excited to read this one.
Yay! I'm glad its getting good. Thanks for sharing, Nikki!
Fabulous review, Nikki!
I still have a book hangover from this one!! I have to agree with you about Death, though I did want to hate him, I couldn't.
He intrigues me and his interactions with Evie, beforehand, are understandable one he reveals their past.
I cannot wait to read the next one!! I may have to stalk KC. ;)
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
I know what you mean!! Death was so creepy in book 1 and then come to find out the whole backstory behind Evie and Death's previous relationship and he had EVERY right to feel that way. I'm afraid that I'm falling for the wrong guy because I believe its too late for Evie in the aspect that she is already in love with Jack. Its going to break my heart if she ends up with him...but it would be steller if she rips him to shreds!!! MUAHAHAH!!
It was a really great book Brenda...If I had never read a Kresley Cole book, I would swear to you that she was born to write YA and NA...as much as it pains me to admit it...lol
Thanks for stopping by Sophie and Amanda!!
