Blood Bound: Guest Post with author Aine Massie and Sneak Peek

It is my pleasure to welcome back Aine Massie to CEWTNK!!  She joined us previously when the first book, Blood's Voice was on tour!  Today Aine allows her characters to explain their rather unusual arrangement. Anya is such a lucky girl :)  She really gets to have her cake and eat it too..lol.  Take a look and you'll see what I mean:

Characters view on relationship

Some readers may be confused about the relationship with between Anya, Nicholas, and Declán, especially if they have not read the novels. They’ve consented to answer a couple of questions and will stop in later to answer any that your viewers ask as well.

Anya: Our relationship confuses many, sadly. I know that the mainstream, human concept if a triad relationship is seen as wrong or that someone is being used or manipulated. For us that is not the case at all. We each love and cherish both of our loves. While I may be the key piece that brought the other two together, they are loyal and loving mates with or without me.

Nicholas: While that’s true, Anya, there is the fact that had you not blood kissed Dec and in so doing bound him to me also, I would never have given him the chance to become what he is now to me. I was too concerned with the issues and pain of loving a human. That being said, I am so thankful that the kiss bond overrode my concerns and allowed me to truly see what wondrous and beautiful beings you both are.

Declán: For me it was confusing yet simple. I loved and wanted Anya and Nic was part of that package. Or, that’s how I saw it. I don’t know specifically why it didn’t freak me out more than it did. My only real worry was that she would choose him over me. Lucky for me, she chose us both. Figuring out how to deal with my growing feelings for Nic was a lot harder for me than dealing with loving them both though. I was afraid he would not want me too and that could have been really awkward with us both loving Anya and living together. I would have backed off but – yeah for me! – I didn’t have to.
A lot of our friends and even some in the House don’t really understand but I think our love is stronger than others worries or arguments against it. As Anya says, love is love is love, period.

Have you ever found yourselves baffled or mystified about your own link to one another, about the bond you three share?

Anya: No. I see all love as love. I do not understand why so many want to classify, label, and dictate others hearts. It should not matter, in my opinion, whom I love as long as I am not harming him/them and it’s consensual. The only part that baffles me is that that they both can look past my instabilities and still love me so completely. They are truly a gift!

Nicholas: I still find Dec’s ability to love and accept us as a marvel. I’ve seen many humans taken as feeders and pets/servants that are basically in thrall to their masters but Dec is not like that at all. Yes, the bond makes it where we all dislike being separated, but his view of us and love of us is real. That is the greatest gift he could give Anya and me. Baffled though would have been when he attacked me that first time . . . even though I knew he was interested in me, he had managed to hide the depths so . . .

Declán: I don’t see the problem. You love who you love. Period. They are both wonderful and loving. Protective to the point of aggravation at times. And I can’t imagine not having given my heart to them both – and no, I’m not a sappy 14 year old girl, I just love my triad family completely.

And now let's take a look at the book info:

How many ways can a hearts true love be shared? After poisoning, near death attacks, consummated passions, and possible insanity visit Anya, Nicholas, and Declán they embark on their future. Or at least they try to. Jealousy can be a pain, in more ways than one.
Can Anya protect her lovers, find peace within herself, and lead the House Millar? With her loves and guards, Nicholas and Declán, she sets out to do just that. If only life, eternal life, were that easy.
Come take a walk with our loving family and witness the strange turns and twists as life, love, and passions collide with greed, politics, and evil.

Excerpt

Stopping, he spun around looking at me with a strange, hungry glint. The look in his eyes set me ablaze in that moment. I struggled to maintain my control. I’m even more dangerous to him now than I ever have been before . . .
“Declán, a ghrá, what’s gotten into you?”
He didn’t speak. He reached out, grabbing my wrists, and started pushing me back into the tree that was just behind us. Pressing me into it, he covered my mouth with his, kissing me as he let out a whimpering moan. His mouth was hungry, and his body eager. My skin felt like it was burning everywhere he touched.
His attack knocked me off centre, and I lost more than a bit of my restraint. His heat, his intoxicating and maddening scent pushing me further . . . The craving for him was so exquisite, so painful. His sapphire eyes blazed as his body arched towards me, crushing me. Lifting me, he greedily devoured my kisses, clutching me tighter. My legs wrapped around him automatically. His fingers twisted in my hair pulling me tight against his lips. Letting out a rapturous moan, he pulled his face back arching his neck to me. I pressed my lips to the moist skin of his throat, feeling the pulsing, the dance of life beckoning to me – enchanted and tormented by the sweet fragrances that encompassed his being. I allowed my teeth to graze his skin.
No, no, no. This is too dangerous. I have to stop. I pulled away from his luscious throat but he used the grip on my hair to stop me. I watched with a surreal fascination as he pressed some strange metal object – it looked vaguely like a curved, sharpened thimble – into the flesh of his own neck and pulled me back to his neck.
What the hell . . . Oh Gods.
With a sudden gasp, I lost control. The moment his blood touched my tongue that strange ecstasy filled me again. This elixir, intoxicating and luscious, drove me into a frenzied euphoria, my body singing in delight. It was pure rapture as all of me delighted in the gift of his existence.
It was over so soon, almost too soon, as I was able to still keep my mind restrained, thankfully. I started to pull away, nicking my tongue and teasing lightly over the wounds with my blood – no need for him to hold the wounds.
“Why did you–”
