Giveaway and Guest Post for The Kiss of Death Tour

Hello!!  I am very happy to be part of the Kiss of Death Tour.  Today I have with me Rebecca Zanetti as she talks about why we love Romantic Suspense books.  Why do you love them?  Rebecca is also giving away a print copy of her book claimed to one lucky commenter!!  Take it away Rebecca!!

Three Reasons to Love Romantic Suspense
By Rebecca Zanetti

Romantic suspense books can be absolutely breathtaking.  As a writer, I think there are three main reasons romantic suspense is so fun to read (and write).  First, romantic suspense books throw characters together and can get the romance moving a lot quicker than normal.  I mean, what’s more likely to get characters moving?  A gal going over to borrow a cup of sugar from her handsome neighbor—or two people fleeing for their lives and hiding out in an abandoned barn after running desperately through a rain storm?  How in the world might they warm up?

Second, romantic suspense plots let us delve deeper into the darker side of life.  The villains can be all the more villainous – for the stronger your hero, the stronger the villain needs to be.  Most of us (hopefully) won’t be running for our lives from a crazy, serial killer stalker.  But it sure makes for some exciting reading while we’re safe in our comfy pajamas in front of a fire.

The third and best reason I like romantic suspense is that intense situations bring out the strength of people—real or imaginary.  How your heroine reacts to the danger, how the hero leaps to save and protect—that’s fascinating.  There’s a complexity to a good romantic suspense novel that includes layer upon layer of characterization.  Those are the books that keep us coming back for more.

Rebecca is one of the many talented authors who belong to the Romance Writers of America’s Kiss of Death chapter. At Kiss of Death we believe that every great romance should include suspense. Whether a spy thriller in Regency times, a paranormal romance with a revenge-seeking zombie, or a traditional serial killer after the heroine, romance relies on suspense, leading the reader through the trials of the heroine and hero to see if they will get their happily ever after ending. If you can call your writing suspenseful, then the Kiss of Death has something for you! Find out more and join at http://www.rwamysterysuspense.org and follow us on Twitter at @RWAKissofDeath.

My favorite thing about romantic suspense is how the action/conflict tweaks up the adrenalin of the characters making the H/H hotter for each other and usually results in some great sex scenes. It is even better if it is a paranormal romantic suspense because then you never know just what kind of characters are going to 'pop up'

I like romantic suspense because it makes the story of the two people so much more, almost more meaningful. Especially with paranormal books, the characters go through so much together, and it's so much fun watching the events unfold and the two characters coming together.

I love romantic suspense because it keeps you on your toes as a reader and a writer. That build up and ease off, and then build up again of tensions is so much fun.

I also like villains that have a softer side and it's easier to see in a suspense. I love your suspense work!

I love romantic suspense because it has romance (of course!) but it keeps me drawn to the story. Im on the edge of my seat, waiting for the next big 'thing'. They always have the one villian that you love to hate. I just love the stories, the plots and characters, just everything! Thank you for sharing and for the giveaway!

Great post, Rebecca, and terrific reasons to love romantic suspense. I especially agree with your third reason--we never know what we're "made of" until we are tested. Great to throw characters in those sorts of situations.
Keep up the great work and best wishes for continued success.

My favorite thing about Romantic Suspense is the plot! The plot is deeper than plain romance books and gives you something to grab ahold of while you're enjoying the romance:)

My favorite thing about romantic suspense is well, the suspense! Not to mention that it seems to me that the relationship between the two main characters seems to get stronger because of the difficulties they have throughout the story.

I think that the combo of action, suspense, life and death situations and the build up of the heat between the hero and heroine are my favorite ingredients that must be present to make the book great.

I think the suspense is the best part usually but all of it combined together makes for a killer book. Thanks for the giveaway.

The trials, the possible misjudgements each character may make, the bickering (maybe) between them also. That's usually my favorite, the smartass remarks during the bickering and then when the steam hits.....phew!
Thank you so much,
Sebrina
