 Hello and Welcome to The Rack!  I’m so happy to have you here visiting and sharing your newest work.  Don’t mind the noise from the prison… err guests, they get noisy during their…treatments..lol.  Let me clear a spot so you can have a seat.  Would you like some refreshments before you get started?

 

So I have to ask…Why paranormal romance?  I was in a dark mood and wanted to create some stories that were a little edgier.  The first paranormal I wrote was DARKNESS CALLS, the first book in THE CALLING series and as I finished it, I realized that a paranormal world created many more possibilities for unique story lines.  I have loved exploring the histories of all the vampires in the series and mixing up vampires from very different cultures.

 

Tell us a little bit about your book.  KISSED BY A VAMPIRE is the story of Stacia, a 2000 year old vampire who doesn’t believe that love is possible in her life.  She’s seen too much and suffered too much.  Of course, when she runs into sexy DEA Agent Alex Garcia and is pulled into an investigation of a white slavery ring, Stacia begins to wonder whether she might be wrong about love.  KISSED BY A VAMPIRE is a very sexy and emotional story as well as being action-packed.
 

A vampire who has given up on love gets a second chance from a most unlikely mortal…For two thousand years, vampire elder Stacia has roamed on her own, haunted by the betrayal that turned her into a creature of the night. Her nights looming empty and eternal, Stacia longs for love, but settles for quick bites and sinful pleasures in South Beach. Until she comes face-to-face with the unforgettable DEA agent she once brought back from the brink of death.  Alex Garcia knows that demons exist-the real kind, the kind that are kidnapping women and selling them into slavery. Finding those victims is his focus-not a beautiful seductress whose otherworldly abilities can’t possibly be real. What first sparked the series idea?  The idea for THE CALLING (which becomes THE REBORN series in February 2013) was inspired by my desire to write darker and different suspense stories.  I was a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The X-Files and asked myself, what would happen if a very modern and kick-ass female FBI Agent ran into a very sexy, Southern gentleman vampire?  That birthed Diana Reyes and Ryder Latimer as well as THE CALLING series.

 

What is the key element in your character creation?  The key element in all of my characters is finding some emotional wound that the character needs to overcome.  Then I put them in the worst possible situation for that emotional wound.

Who is the character that in your opinion everyone is going to fall in love with?  I think people will love Stacia because of how complex she is, but also because of how strong she is.

 

I have to ask, what are the hardest scenes for you to write?  The hardest scenes are the love scenes because I want them to be unique, but also fit the characters.  Also, I really don’t want to write one until the characters are ready to take that next step.

 

How would you rate the sex scenes throughout the series?  The sex scenes are definitely R-rated headed toward X-rated.  The books are all very spicy, but in different ways.

 

Are there any of these in your books?  (Hands one of the toy boxes on the right which is filled with sex toys, whips, body creams, lotions, lubs…and whatever else you can imagine J)  Um, gulp, yeah.  There are definitely some playful scenes like that in the books.

 

Do you see yourself writing anymore stories in this series or a spin-off?  Right now there are four more books in the series.  One will be released from Harlequin, but then the series becomes THE REBORN series and will be released by Entangled Publishing beginning in February 2013.  I hope to write more after that as well.

Are any of your characters reflective of you?  Of all the characters, Diana Reyes is the most like me.  Some drama in her past life, a mix of strong and insecure and very much a control freak.

Tell us about some up and coming books.  BORN TO SERVE is the next book in the series and it brings back Diana and Ryder for the next step of their story.  Fans of the series will remember that Diana is nearly killed in DEATH CALLS, but survives when she was contaminated with Ryder’s blood.  That contamination is creating all kinds of problems with Diana’s health and BORN TO SERVE will explore what is happening and how Diana and Ryder’s love will face that.  The other books in the series will continue with Diana and Ryder’s story, but will also have suspense subplots with other characters and their love stories.

Will any of your characters from this series cameo in other future books?  In future books you will see many of the characters that form the Scooby Gang. Diego, Blake, Meghan, Melissa, Sebastian, David, Maggie and others from the earlier books will all play roles in future stories.

 Lace up boots or high heels?  Ugh.  Neither.  I’m such a sneaker kind of girl.

 Ball gag, manacles, or blindfold?  Blindfold.

 The rack or the whipping post?  OMG.  I’m short, so maybe the rack to make me a little taller?

 Candle wax or clamps?  Ouch.  Candle wax.

 Blonde, red-head, or Brunette?  Brunette with blue or green eyes.  So love that combo.

 

He is my personal favorite, but I have a thing for dark haired tattooed demonsJ.  And the nipple piercings just add that little bit of kink.  The humans are kept on the upper levels even though I’m slowly weeding them out.  They just can’t seem to handle our….services.  And of course, the further down you go the more of the paranormal comes to light.  So …what’s your posion?   We also have a new level of shapeshifters that can take on ANY form you want……it’s actually quite amusing if you want to switch during….you get the picture!!!
