Review: Blood Life by: Gianna Perada

Not your typical vampire story: this book is an unforgettable paranormal adventure just waiting to reveal itself without restraint! Starting off at a slower, fairytale pace, the story shifts, killing the sweetness without looking back, and jettisons the reader into a world of chaos and calm, loyalty and adversity, redemption and long lost love.

Blood Life is a vampire/witch thriller full of blood, magic, love, violence, and sex. It is no Twilight or Vampire Diaries! It's much darker and sexier, but equally as engrossing and unique. The witches and vampires of the fictional world of the Spectrum have united and created a race of half-breeds called the Combined. These are very powerful entities, but their race has been threatened by a rogue vampire with very old, powerful blood named Lokee, the son of the Great Witch, Devendra. This story is about letting Fate play out, but in all its turmoil, trying to save one woman who will be the key to saving the witches, the vampires, AND the Combined. Of course, the villain is very much against all that, and tortures her time and again to try to destroy her.

Can the Combined's strongest vampire adversary form an army to defeat them, or will the power of three keep the race on top? Centered around the lives of four integral characters, Blood Life is an adventure series unlike any in the genre. Meet Devendra, a powerful witch descended from one of the first lineages; Lokee, her son and worst enemy; Roman, her friend and companion; and Alethea, the key to it all...
My Review:

This was a completely amazing read!  It has layers upon layers of plot and all is revealed in the end.  Alexandria is the daughter of a king who hates her existence.  She has one servant, Elizabeth, to whom she loves as a mother,  Elizabeth has kept her sane when her mother abandoned her for drugs and her father was to busy to deal with her, until she became a useful age.  It was upon such a day when a young actor came into view.  He was beautiful and has so much talent.  She couldn't take her eyes off of him.  But nothing can come of a princess and a peasant...or could it?

Roman struggled all of his live and just wanted the chance to preform on the Royal stage.  He had convinced himself  that if only the Morgan could see him preform, that he would allow him the pleasure.  So he awaits for him outside of his gates and begs for a chance to prove himself.  Unmoved by his performance, the Morgan turns him away.  Crushed by this unexpected rejection, he makes his way to the tavern, set on drowning his sorrows in ale.  But a strange thing comes to pass, for a note arrives from the Morgan asking him to come preform.  He is to take the place of one of the actors that has fallen ill.  He memorizes his part and pulls off the part flawlessly, and catches the eye of a very beautiful lady.  So beautiful in fact he is blinded.  Consumed with thoughts of her, he rides towards her house hoping to catch her out by chance.  Fate is on his side because she is out and so begins our doomed tale of love.  A love that indeed crosses time.

These events top off our story and while they do set off the course of things, it is a small piece of the whole.  So much pain and love is involved in the evolution of this tale.  I enjoyed ever minute of it.  This book was spectacular from start to finish and would love the chance to experience her work again.  Fabulous Read!!

This looks like a truly great read. It's hard to find a new twist in races that we have seen before.
